RHEIN-RUHR Beschichtungs-Service uses both belt lapping and also stone lapping in order to improve the surface finish of coatings after grinding.
In the case of belt lapping, one uses a diamond loaded foil guided over an axially vibrating roller, the roller traverses the rotating work-piece. The roller presses the foil onto the work-piece.
By utilising various belts of differing grades the required surface finish can be achieved.
In the case of stone lapping, stones or strips of various grades are pressed on the rotating work.piece surface. By stone lapping the waviness of the surface can be effected.
By utilising various belts of differing grades the required surface finish can be achieved.
It is possible to achieve surface roughnesses of approximatley 0,02 µm Ra.
